Daily Bread

Daily Bread is a record of one image repeatedly becoming something else.

It began with a simple bird-like figure above the word CLAW. I kept returning to the same physical surface. The figure became a tank. The tank became mechanical. It shifted into a knight, then an astronaut, and eventually something closer to the artist at the machine.

None of those versions were planned as a sequence. Each emerged from what was already there.

Lines were reused. Shapes changed function. Earlier states were covered, redrawn and absorbed into later ones. Some disappeared almost completely. Others remain visible beneath the current surface.

Words accumulated with the images: “You’ve captured my attention.” “Dance.” “Winner.” “Allure.” “Read.” “Come.” “Tear.”

What began as a changing character became a work about attention itself: what captures it, what we repeatedly return to, and what we choose to feed.

Bird. Machine. Tank. Knight. Astronaut. Artist.

The subject kept changing. The object kept the history.
